2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 5:33-37

33 Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' 34 But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 35 or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King. 36 And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black. 37 Let what you say be simply 'Yer' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil. 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• oath  맹세, 서약
• swear 맹세하다,
• falsely 허위로, 거짓으로, 그릇되게
• perform 수행하다, 행하다
• take an oath 맹세하다, 서약하다
• at all 전혀, 조금도
• either 어느 하나의
• either A or B A 또는 B 중 하나
• not either A or B A도 B도 아닌
• heaven 하늘
• throne (하나님의) 옥좌, 보좌, 왕위
• earth 땅
• footstool 발판
• simply 간단히, 단순히
• evil 악, 사악, 악의, 사악한

 

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① Again you have heard that it was said to those of old, 'You shall not swear falsely, but shall perform to the Lord what you have sworn.' 

• Again you have heard 또 너희가 들었다
• that it was said to those of old 옛 사람에게 전해진 것을
• You shall not swear falsely 너는 거짓으로 맹세해서는 안 된다
• but shall perform to the Lord 하나님께 실행해야 한다
• what you have sworn 네가 맹세한 것을

→ 또 옛 사람에게 말한 바 헛 맹세를 하지 말고 네 맹세한 것을 주께 지키라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으나 

 

② But I say to you, Do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, 

• But I say to you 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다
• Do not take an oath at all 어떤 맹세도 하지 마라
• either by heaven 하늘로도 (하지 마라)
• for it is the throne of God 그것은 하나님의 보좌이다

→ 나는 너희에게 이르노니 도무지 맹세하지 말지니 하늘로도 하지 말라 이는 하나님의 보좌임이요

 

③ or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.

• or by the earth 땅으로도 (하지 마라)
• for it is his footstool 그것은 하나님의 발판이다
• or by Jerusalem 예루살렘으로도 (하지 마라)
• for it is the city of the great King 그것은 큰 왕의 도시이다

→ 땅으로도 하지 말라 이는 하나님의 발등상임이요 예루살렘으로도 하지 말라 이는 큰 임금의 성임이요

 

④ And do not take an oath by your head, for you cannot make one hair white or black.

• And do not take an oath 그리고 맹세하지 마라
• by your head 너의 머리로
• for you cannot make one hair white or black 너는 머리카락 하나도 희거나 검게 할 수 없다

→ 네 머리로도 하지 말라 이는 네가 한 터럭도 희고 검게 할 수 없음이라

 

⑤ Let what you say be simply 'Yer' or 'No'; anything more than this comes from evil. 

• Let what you say be simply 'Yes' or 'No' 네가 말하는 것이 단순히 '예' 또는 '아니오'가 되게 해라
• anything more than this 이것보다 더한 것은 
• comes from evil 악에서 나온다

→ 오직 너희 말은 옳다 옳다, 아니라 아니라 하라 이에서 지나는 것은 악으로부터 나느니라

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
