2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 5:43-48

43 You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' 44 But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 45 so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 48 You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. 

 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• enemy 적, 원수
• neighbor 이웃
• hate 미워하다
• pray 기도하다, 바라다
• persecute 박해하다
• so that ~하기 위해서
• heaven 하늘
• evil 악, 사악, 사악한
• send 보내다
• just 옳바른, 정의의
• unjust 불공평한, 부정한
• reward 보상, 상을 주다, 보상하다
• tax 세금
• collector 모으는 사람, 징세관
• same 똑같은
• therefore 그러므로
• perfect 완전한, 완벽한
• heavenly 하늘의

 

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.'

• You have heard 너희는 들었다
• that is was said 전해오는 것을
• You shall love your neighbor 너는 이웃을 사랑해서 하고
• and hate your enemy 그리고 적을 미워해야 한다

→ 또 네 이웃을 사랑하고 네 원수를 미워하라 하였다는 것을 너희가 들었으니

 

② But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, 

• But I say to you 그러나 나는 너희에게 말한다
• Love your enemies 적을 사랑하라
• and pray for those who persecute you 그리고 너희를 박해하는 사람들을 위해 기도하라

→ 나는 너희에게 이르노니 너희 원수를 사랑하며 너희를 박해하는 자를 위하여 기도하라

 

③ so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

• so that you may be sons of your Father 너희가 너희 아버지의 아들이 되기 위해서이다
• who is in heaven 하늘에 계신
• For he makes his sun rise 그가 그의 해를 떠오르게 하신다

♠ 문법노트

For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and send rain on the just and on the unjust

▶ the+형용사 = 복수보통명사

원칙적으로 형용사 앞에는 정관사 the를 쓸 수 없지만 예외적으로 형용사 앞에 the를 붙이면 '~하는 사람들'이라는 의미가 됩니다. 예를 들어 the poor이라고 하면 '가난한 사람들'이 됩니다. 

 

→ 이같이 한즉 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 아들이 되리니 이는 하나님이 그 해를 악인과 선인에게 비추시며 비를 의로운 자와 불의한 자에게 내려 주심이라

 

④ For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?

• For if you love those who love you 만약 너희가 너희를 사랑하는 사람을 사랑한다면
• what reward do you have 너희가 어떤 상을 받겠느냐?
• Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 심지어 세리들도 그와 똑같이 하지 않느냐?

→ 너희가 너희를 사랑하는 자를 사랑하면 무슨 상이 있으리요 세리도 이같이 아니하느냐

 

⑤ And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same?

• And if you greet only your brothers 그리고 만약 너희가 오직 너희 형제에게만 인사를 한다면
• what more are you doing than others? 너희가 다른 사람들보다 더 하는 것이 무엇이냐?
• Do not even the Gentiles do the same? 심지어 이방인들도 그와 똑같이 하지 않느냐?

→ 또 너희가 너희 형제에게만 문안하며 남보다 더하는 것이 무엇이냐 이방인들도 이같이 아니하느냐

 

⑥ You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect. 

• You therefore must be perfect 그러므로 너희는 완전해야 한다
• as your heavenly Father is perfect 너희 하늘 아버지가 완전한 것과 같이

→ 그러므로 하늘에 계신 너희 아버지의 온전하심과 같이 너희도 온전하라

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
