2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

Genesis 1:14-19

14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so. 16 And God made the two great lights - the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night - and the stars. 17 And God set them in the expanse of the heavens to give light on the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening and there was morning, the fourth day.

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• sign 징조, 표적, 표시, 기호
• season 계절
• great 위대한, 큰
• rule 지배하다, 통치하다
• lesser 보다 작은
• darkness 어둠
• fourth 네 번째

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the heavens to separate the day from the night. And let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years,

• And God said 그리고 하나님께서 말씀하셨다
• Let there be lights 빛이 있어라
• in the expanse of the heavens 하늘의 큰 공간 안에
• to separate the day from the night 밤과 낮을 나누기 위해서
• And let them be 그리고 그것들이 이루게 하여라
• for signs and for seasons 징조와 계절
• and for days and years 그리고 날과 해를

② and let them be lights in the expanse of the heavens to give light upon the earth." And it was so.

5. 문법노트

문법은 직독직해를 하는데 필요한 부분만 간단하게 설명할 예정입니다. 문법에 너무 얽매이면 문장의 의미를 파악하기도 전에 문법적으로 접근하게 되기 때문에 영어문장을 읽으면서 해석하는 것이 어려워집니다. 꼭 알아야 하는 부분만 이해하고 영어문장을 읽으면서 해석이 된다면 그냥 넘어가도 됩니다. 

♠ to+동사원형

to부정사는 다양한 의미를 갖기 때문에 영어문장 안에서 의미를 파악하는 연습이 필요합니다. to부정사는 기본적으로 [명사, 형용사, 부사]의 역할을 모두 할 수 있습니다. 그 중에서 부사로 쓰이는 경우가 가장 많고 부사로 쓰이는 경우 중에서는 목적를 표현하는 것으로 '~하기 위해서'라는 의미로 가장 많이 사용됩니다. 오늘 연습하는 문장에 나오는 to부정사는 모두 '~하기 위해서'라고 해석하면 됩니다. 

• to separat 나누기 위해서
• to give 주기 위해서
• to rule 지배하기 위해서

6. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다. 

14 And God said, "Let there be lights / in the expanse of the heavens / to separate the day from the night. / And let them be / for signs and for seasons, / and for days and years, / 15 and let them be lights / in the expanse of the heavens / to give light upon the earht." / And it was so. / 16 And God made the two great lights / - the greater light to rule the day / and the lesser light to rule the night / - and the stars. / 17 And God set them / in the expanse of the heavens / to give light on the earth, / 18 to rule over the day and over the night, / and to separate the light from the darkness. / And God saw / that it was good. / 19 And there was evening and there was morning, / the fourth day. 

7. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

8. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

9. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
