2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 5:3-12

3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 7 Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다.

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 

• Blessed are the poor in spirit 영혼이 가난한 사람은 복을 받는다
• for theirs is the kingdom of heaven 천국이 그들의 것이다

♣ 문법노트

Blessed are the poor

▶ Blessed are the poor : 도치 

'The poor are blessed.'가 원래 문장인데 강조하기 위해서 blessed를 앞에 썼습니다. 이렇게 원래 문법적으로 맞는 순서를 바뀌어서 쓰는 것을 '도치'라고 합니다 문법적인 용어가 중요한 것이 아니라 순서가 바뀌어도 의미를 파악하는 것이 중요합니다. 

▶ the poor = poor people (가난한 사람들)

[the+형용사 = 복수보통명사] 형용사 앞에서는 the를 붙이지 못하지만 관용적으로 형용사 앞에 the를 붙여서 명사처럼 사용할 수 있습니다.

예) the rich = rich people 

▶theris is the kingdom of heaven : 도치

'the kingdom of heaven is theirs'가 원래 문장인데 강조하기 위해서 theirs를 앞에 썼습니다. 

 

② Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.

• Blessed are those who mourn 슬퍼하는 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for they shall be comforted 그들은 위로를 받습니다

③ Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.

• Blessed are the meek 온화한 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for they shall inherit the earth 그들은 땅을 물려받습니다

④ Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. 

• Blessed are those who hunger and thirst 굶주리고 목마른 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for righteousness 의를 위해서
• for they shall be satisfied 그들은 만족하게 됩니다

⑤ Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. 

• Blessed are the merciful 자비로운 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for they shall receive mercy 그들은 자비를 받게 될 것입니다

⑥ Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. 

• Blessed are the pure in heart 마음이 깨끗한 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for they shall see God 그들은 하나님을 볼 것입니다

⑦ Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

• Blessed are the peacemakes 평화롭게 하는 사람은 복이 있습니다
• for they shall be called sons of God 그들이 하나님의 아들이라고 불리웁니다

⑧ Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

• Blessed are those who are persecuted 박해를 받는 사람들은 복이 있습니다
• for righteousness' sake 의를 위해서
• for theirs is the kingdom of heaven 천국이 그들의 것입니다

⑨ Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account.

⑩ Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. 

• Rejoice and be gald 기뻐하고 즐거워하라
• for your reward is great 너희의 상이 크다
• in heaven 하늘에서
• for so they persecuted the prophets 그렇게 그들이 선지자들을 박해했다
• who were before you 그 선지자들은 너희 보다 앞에 있었다

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
