2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 6:5-8

5 And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• pray 기도하다, 빌다
• like ~처럼, ~와 같이
• hypocrite 위선자
• synagogue 유대교의 예배당, 회당 
• corner 모퉁이
• receive 받다
• reward 보상, 상을 주다, 보상하다
• shut 닫다
• in secret 비밀히
• heap up 수북히 쌍핟
• empty 빈, 말뿐인, 공허한
• phrase 말, 어법
• Gentile 비유대인 (이방인)

 

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 

• And when you pray 그리고 너희가 기도할 때
• you must not be like the hypocrites 너희는 위선자와 같이 하지 마라
• For they love to stand and pray 그들은 서서 기도하는 것을 좋아한다
• in the synagogues 회당에서
• and at the street corners 그리고 길 모퉁이에서
• that they may be seen by others 다른 사람들에게 보여주기 위해서
• Truly, I say to you 진실로 너희에게 말한다
• they have received their reward 그들은 상을 이미 받았다

→ 또 너희는 기도할 때에 외식하는 자와 같이 하지 말라 그들은 사람에게 보이려고 회당과 큰 거리 어귀에 서서 기도하기를 좋아하느니라 내가 진실로 너희에게 이르노니 그들은 자기 상을 이미 받았느니라 

 

② But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

• But when you pray 그러나 네가 기도할 때
• go into your room 방에 들어가서
• and shut the door 문을 닫고 
• and pray to your Father 네 아버지에게 기도하라
• who is in secret 숨어 계시는
• And your Father who sees in secret 그러면 숨어서 보시는 네 아버지께서
• will reward you 너에게 상을 주실 것이다

→ 너는 기도할 때에 네 골방에 들어가 문을 닫고 은밀한 중에 계신 네 아버지께 기도하라 은밀한 중에 보시는 네 아버지께서 갚으시리라

 

③ And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words.

• And when you pray 그리고 네가 기도할 때
• do not heap up empty phrases 빈 말을 많이 하지 마라
• as the Gentiles do 이방인들이 하는 것처럼
• for they think 그들은 생각한다
• that they will be heard 그들이 듣게 될 것이라고
• for their many words 그들의 많은 기도에

→ 또 기도할 때에 이반인과 같이 중언부언하지 말라 그들은 말을 많이 하여야 들으실 줄 생각하느니라

 

④ Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 

• Do not be like them 그들처럼 되지 마라
• for your Father knows 너희 아버지는 아신다
• what you need 너희에게 필요한 것을
• before you ask him 너희가 그에게 구하기 전에

→  그러므로 그들을 본받지 말라 구하기 전에 너희에게 있어야 할 것을 하나님 너희 아버지께서 아시느니라 

 

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
