혼자서 영어공부 - 어린왕자 원서읽기 (끊어읽기)

1. 전체읽기

전체 문장을 소리내서 5번 읽는다. 

 

I soon learned to know this flower better. On the little prince's planet the flowers had always been very simple. They had only one ring of petals; they took up no room at all; they were a trouble to nobody. One morning they would appear in the grass, and by night they would have faded peacefully away. But one day, from a seed blown from no one knew where, a new flower had come up; and the little prince had watched very closely over this small sprout which was not like any other small sprouts on his planet.

2. 어휘암기 (어휘저축)

오늘 암기해야 하는 어휘는 반드시 오늘 암기한다. 

영어문장을 통해 어휘를 암기하면 막연하게 우리말 뜻만 암기하는 것이 아니라 문장에서 어떻게 활용되는지 알 수 있기 때문에 영작을 할 때 도움이 많이 됩니다. 

• soon 곧, 조만간
• learn to do ~하게 되다
• appear 나타나다
• petal 꽃잎
• grass 풀, 잔디
• fade 사라지다, 흐려지다
• peacefully 조용히, 평화롭게
• seed 씨앗
• blow (blew-blown) (꽃이) 피다, (꽃을) 피우다
• closely 면밀하게, 가까이
• sprout 싹, 새싹

3. 끊어읽기&직독직해

암기한 어휘를 적용해서 끊어읽기 연습을 한다. 

영어문장을 읽을 때 어느 부분에서 끊어서 읽어야 하는지를 아는 것이 중요합니다. 꾸준히 영어문장을 읽는 연습을 할 때 어느 부분까지 끊어서 우리말로 바꾸는 것이 좋은지 연습을 하면 자연스럽게 영어문장이 우리말처럼 이해되는 순간이 옵니다.

4. 마무리

읽기 연습을 충분히 한 후 자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 들으면서 따라 한다. 

 

"끊어읽기&직독직해"를 통해 의미를 파악한 후에는 반복해서 영어문장을 읽는 연습을 하면 좋습니다. 영어문장을 보지 않고 입에서 술술 나올 때까지 반복해서 읽으면 영어문장이 완전히 내 것이 되고 이런 연습을 계속 하면 어느 순간 영어문장을 저절로 말하게 됩니다.
