2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 14:28-31

28 And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." 29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me." 31 Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• answer 대답하다
• Lord 주님, 하나님
• command 명령하다
• out of ~의 밖으로
• afraid 두려운
• sink 가라앉다
• cry out 소리차다
• save 구하다
• immediately 즉시
• reach out 손을 뻗다
• take hold of ~을 잡다, 붙잡다

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① And Peter answered him, "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water." 29 He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 

• And Peter answered him, 베드로가 예수님께 대답했습니다
• Lord, if it is you 주님, 만약 주님이시라면
• command me to come to you  저에게 당신에게 오라고 명령해 주세요
• on the water 물 위로

→ 베드로가 대답하여 이르되 주요 만일 주님이시거든 나를 명하사 물 위로 오라 하소서 하니 

 

 

② He said, "Come." So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. 

• He said, "Come." 예수님이 말씀하셨다. "와라"
• So Peter got out of the boat 그래서 베드로는 배에서 내려
• and walk on the water 물 위로 걸어서
• and came to Jesus 예수님께 왔다

→ 오라 하시니 베드로가 배에서 내려 물 위로 걸어서 예수께로 가되

 

③ But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, "Lord, save me."

• But when he saw the wind 그러나 베드로가 바람을 보았을 때
• he was afraid 그는 두려웠다
• and beginning to sink 그리고 빠지기 시작했다
• he cried out 그는 소리쳤다
• "Lord, save me." 주님 저를 살려주세요

→ 바람을 보고 무서워 빠져 가는지라 소리 질러 이르되 주여 나를 구원하소서 하니

 

④ Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

• Jesus immediately reached out his hand 예수님이 즉시 손을 내밀어서
• and took hold of him 베드로를 잡았다
• saying to him 그리고 베드로에게 말씀하셨다
• O you of little faith 오, 믿음이 작은 자야
• why did you doubt 왜 의심했느냐

→ 예수께서 즉시 손을 내밀어 그를 붙잡으시며 이르시되 믿음이 작은 자여 왜 의심하였느냐

 

 

♠ 문법노트

command me to come to you on the water

▶command + 목적어 + to부정사

'~가 ~하도록 시키다'라는 의미가 됩니다. 이런 구조를 문장을 통해 암기해 두면 문법뿐만 아니라 회화와 독해에도 적용할 수 있습니다. 특히 동사의 경우 뒤에 어떤 품사가 어떤 순서로 오는지 알아두는 것이 좋습니다. 

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
