2. 영어문장 소리 내서 3번 읽기

뜻을 모르더라도 읽을 수 있다면 일단 3번 읽어보세요. 절대 중간에 끊지 말고 처음부터 끝까지 읽어보세요.

 

Matthew 6:29-24

19 Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. 22 The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, 23 but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 24 No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 

 

3. 어휘 암기하기

어휘를 암기하는 것은 어휘를 저축하는 것과 같습니다. 암기한 어휘를 문장에 적용시키면 오래도록 기억할 수 있습니다. 이렇게 저축한 어휘는 어느 순간 폭발적으로 효과를 나타냅니다. 

• layup (음식, 연료 등을) 저축하다, 비축하다
• treasure 보물
• earht 땅
• moth 나방, 옷좀나방, 좀먹음
• rust 녹, 녹균
• destroy 파괴하다
• thief (thieves) 도둑
• break in 밀고 들어가다, 침입하다
• steal 훔치다
• heaven 하늘
• neither A nor B A도 아니고 B도 아닌
• heart 마음, 심장
• also 또한
• lamp 등, 램프
• healthy 건강한, 건강에 좋은
• whole 전체의, 전부의, 완전한
• be full of ~으로 채우다
• darkness 어둠
• serve 섬기다, 봉사하다
• master 주인
• either A or B A 또는 B인
• hate 미워하다
• devote 헌신하다, 바치다
• despise 멸시하다, 경멸하다
• money 돈

 

4. 직독직해 

영어문장 끊어 읽기를 연습합니다. 영어문장과 끊어서 해석한 우리말을 읽으면서 직독직해를 연습하세요.

① Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal,

• Do not lay up for yourselves treasures 너를 위해서 보물을 모아두지 마라
• on earth 땅에
• where moth and rust destroy 거기에서 좀과 녹이 파괴한다
• where thieves break in and steal 거기에서 도둑이 뚫고 들어와서 훔친다

→ 너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도둑이 구멍을 뚫고 도둑질하느니라

 

② but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 

• but lay up for yourselves treasures 그러나 너희를 위해서 보물을 쌓아두라
• in heaven 하늘에
• where neither moth nor rust destroys 거기에는 좀과 녹이 파괴하지 못한다
• where thieves do not break in and steal 거기에는 도둑이 뚫고 들어와서 훔치지 못한다

→ 오직 너희를 위하여 보물을 하늘에 쌓아 두라 거기는 좀이나 동록이 해하지 못하며 도둑이 구멍을 뚫지도 못하고 도둑질도 못하느니라

 

③ For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

• For where your treasure is 너의 보물이 있는 곳에
• there your heart will be also 거기에너의 마음도 또한 있을 것이다

→ 네 보물 있는 곳에는 네 마음도 있느니라

 

④ The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light,

• The eye is the lamp of the body 눈이 몸의 등불이다
• So, if your eye is healthy 그러니 너의 눈이 건강하면
• your whole body will be full of light 너의 온 몸이 빛으로 가득 찰 것이다

→ 눈은 몸의 등불이니 그러므로 네 눈이 성하면 온 몸이 밝을 것이요

 

⑤ but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! 

• but if your eye is bad 그러나 만약 너의 눈이 나쁘면
• your whole body will be full of darkness 너의 온 몸이 어둠으로 가득 찰 것이다
• If then the light in you is darkness 그러니 만약 네 안에 있는 빛이 어두우면
• how great is the darkness 그 어둠이 얼마나 크겠는가

→ 눈이 나쁘면 온 몸이 어두울 것이니 그러므로 네게 있는 빛이 어두우면 그 어둠이 얼마나 더하겠느냐

 

⑥ No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money. 

• No one can serve two mastes 아무도 두 주인을 섬길 수 없다
• for either he will hate the one 그가 한 주인은 미워하고
• and love the other 다른 주인은 사랑하거나
• or he will be devoted to the one 또는 한 주인에게는 헌신하나
• and despise the other  다른 주인은 멸시할 것이다
• You cannot serve God and money 너는 하나님과 돈을 섬길 수 없다

→ 한 사람이 두 주인을 섬기지 못할 것이니 혹 이를 미워하고 저를 사랑하거나 혹 이를 중히 여기고 저를 경히 여김이라 너희가 하나님과 재물을 겸하여 섬기지 못하느니라

 

5. 전체 문장 끊어 읽기

앞에 끊어서 읽으면서 해석한 것을 기억하며 읽어보세요. 영어문장을 읽을 때 끊어진 부분에서 아주 잠깐 쉰다고 생각하면서 읽으면 끊어진 단위대로 해석할 수 있게 됩니다.

6. 전체 문장 다시 읽기

끊어 읽기를 하나하나 생각하는 것이 아니라 전체 내용을 머릿속에 그림을 그리며 읽어보세요. 3-5번 멈추지 않고 읽어볼 것을 권합니다.

7. 자신의 음성으로 녹음하기

영어문장을 읽는 것이 익숙해졌다면 자신의 목소리로 녹음을 한 다음 들으면서 어색한 부분을 점검해 보세요. 이 과정을 통해서 좀 더 자신 있게 영어로 말하는 연습을 할 수 있습니다. 앞에 원어민이 읽어주는 파일과 비교하면서 연습해 보세요.

 

8. 전체문장 반복해서 읽기

자신의 목소리로 녹음해서 원어민 발음과 비교해서 교정을 했다면 이제 마지막으로 무한반복 읽기에 도전하기 바랍니다. 암기한 어휘나 끊어 읽기를 적용하는 것이 아니라 영어문장 자체를 계속 읽으면서 입에서 자연스럽게 나올 수 있게 반복해 보세요.
